Jan Semenoff, BA, EMA
Forensic Criminalist | Educator | Expert Witness
Editor: Counterpoint: The Journal of Science and the Law
Founder:
 myCAMprogram
With almost 40 years of experience in forensic breath alcohol testing, Jan Semenoff has testified as an expert in more than 150 jury trials across North America and is widely recognized as a leading expert in alcohol monitoring technology and impairment evidence.
Before entering the forensic field, Jan served as a police officer and primary care paramedic, giving him a unique, front-line perspective on both investigative practices and medical issues affecting alcohol testing. His forensic work bridges law enforcement, science, and courtroom application, making him a trusted resource for attorneys, forensic professionals, and investigative journalists alike.
He served as the principal technical advisor to The New York Times during its landmark investigation into breath testing reliability and continues to consult with legal professionals throughout the U.S. and Canada.
Jan is also the founding editor of Counterpoint - The Journal of Science and the Law — a publication dedicated to the intersection of forensic science and legal practice. Now in its tenth year, Counterpoint publishes articles from leading experts across disciplines, providing scientifically grounded, courtroom-relevant analysis on topics ranging from alcohol testing to pharmacology, toxicology, and evidence interpretation. The journal has become a trusted resource for lawyers and forensic consultants seeking clarity on complex scientific issues in litigation.
Built on decades of forensic expertise, this program transforms complex scientific insight into practical, accessible guidance for clients navigating alcohol monitoring — that’s the foundation of myCAMprogram.
